The friendly, silly illustrations in this cookbook of healthy family recipes keep it fun and approachable. The simple two-color interior layout is clean and easy to use with lively divider pages and playful headlines. The cover has no food photos, since the recipes included were so varied we didn’t want to be too specific. The simple plate is the hero here, which not only suggests unlimited possibilities, it kept the photography within a very limited budget. We shot most of the simple food iconic shots in our studio. It was especially challenging to get that waffle to run towards the syrup.
